Call for Action to Support Our Adult Freedoms [05 Feb 2009|03:37am]
Please don't let extremist religious opposition affect our rights [moreso than they already do].

I almost bought a ticket to this event. The educational/safety classes, the people, the community, the ability to embrace one's non-mainstream interests in such a forum is significant, and losing that would be horrible in so many ways.

I've read that the hotel chain is, in fact, tracking responses to this issue, so every call counts; please don't let religious conservatism trample yet another of our rightful freedoms.
Personal appreciation to anyone who takes five minutes out to make a simple call.

Action Alert - Winter Wickedness

Support the Holiday Inn - Worthington, OH!

February 4, 2009

Please make a phone call now to support the Holiday Inn Worthington, the host hotel for Adventures In
Sexuality's (AIS) Winter Wickedness Event taking place February 6-8th. The religious extremist group, Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, along with a local religious radio station in the Columbus, Ohio, area are running a smear campaign against this pansexual BDSM event.

Peter LaBarbara of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality calls the event "a freakish sadomasochistic perversion-fest" and urges people to call the hotel's corporate headquarters to pressure them into canceling "for the sake of decency and public health."

Bob Burney, a religious extremist Talk Radio DJ, devoted an entire segment of his show slamming Winter Wickedness and attempting to link the event with non-consensual and criminal activities. He urged his listeners to call and mount a campaign against the hotel. (Tuesday, Part 3 starting at 10 min 42sec: ) Click here to listen.
It will only take a minute for you to help! It doesn't matter where you live or if you're not going to
attend this event. Please call the Intercontinental Hotels Group Corporate Customer service line at 800-
621-0555, then press option 1, then option 5, and thank them for not discriminating against groups, and
for being willing to face minor adversity for the sake of our freedom.

You can also call the Holiday Inn Columbus-Worthington today at 614-436-0700 – they'll be very glad to
hear a friendly voice to counter the hatred of the religious extremists.

Suggested points to make:

1. Thank you for upholding the Fair Accommodations Act and choosing not to discriminate against legal
events.

2. Please don't let a small number of religious extremists manipulate you by drumming up fear with their misinformation campaigns.

3. There are over 200 weekend-long BDSM events that take place every year in America – we bring in a lot of revenue in these hard times. We like to stay at hotel chains where we have been welcomed when we're traveling on personal or business travel.

4. Organizers of BDSM events such as Winter Wickedness at The Holiday Inn comply with state and local
laws prohibiting public sexual intercourse and other forms of sexual intimacy. Demonstrations, lectures
and discussion groups as well as dinners and evening parties compose the variety of offerings to guests,
nothing different from any of the other hundreds of conventions hosted by your franchisees on a weekly basis.

5. Thank you for standing strong against hate and ignorance.

Please pass this on to your friends to call now!

travel & visual memories that I must make [20 May 2008|02:19am]
I've been dreaming of the Pacific coast- rugged coastlines, the ocean, winding beachside roads..
I've also recently become visually obsessed with Moab, Utah after stumbling across some images on MM in my need-to-see-the-desert preoccupation..
So- who's comin' with me?

notetoself: [13 May 2007|06:10am]
It is absolutely necessary that I hold an active role in finding[->knowing] what makes me happy,- experiencing, learning, feeling/progressing, accomplishing, moving forth..
Otherwise = death.
I must never concern myself more with those around me than my own basic happiness, as I will only rot internally and cause more pain with the longer I accept stagnation.

There is always either too much or not enough.
Note: Don't leave any constructive criticism on this statement [but comments aren't blocked because anything else is fine].

Ill and concerned.. -very high heart rate,.-hoping for comments [21 Feb 2007|02:16am]
So,. Today I went to the clinic after having a day full of feverish uncomfortableness, cough, and having expelled everything from my stomach and then some, but something more than those symptoms came into concern while I was there. I had a heart rate of 140 and was put through my first EKG, having blood drawn, a chest x-ray (he said if i had pneumonia it would explain the heart rate, but then he didn't see any pneumonia) and finally was given a breathing treatment in hopes that maybe it would help me to not seem that I was struggling to breathe and hopefully lower my heart rate (which it didn't- I sat there and watched it go down to 120something, then back up to 140something, and it actually hit the low 160's at one point). The doctor advised me that I should technically be in the hospital, but it was my decision to either go home with some antibiotics and be back in there at 7:30 this morning or go into the hospital to probably be in there for several hours and possibly end up with more blood tests and a CAT scan to seek out if it might be a blood clot on/in/meh? my lung.. I feel like crap, and didn't want to be sitting around in a hospital tonight, so even though I am super-paranoid about this being serious, I'm home, and Cade has been checking my pulse (110ish last time).. Any thoughts from the medically knowledgeable or others who've had similar "unexplained unstable vital signs/high heart rate"?

You scored as Hedonism. Your life is guided by the principles of Hedonism: You believe that pleasure is a great, or the greatest, good; and you try to enjoy life’s pleasures as much as you can.

Simple rules.. [11 Dec 2006|05:00pm]
I've had some realizations about difficulties of living with others who were not brought up the same way,. or who generally see things differently,.. I compiled a list of what makes sense to me:

Rules of a working, peaceful household:

- Turn off anything that uses electric when not directly in use (tv, lights, etc.). ($$$)
- Keep thermostat at lowest tolerable/comfortable temperature. (adjust as necessary,. be comfortable, turn it up when hanging out in the coldest room of the house or whatnot, but turn it back down when unnecessary, before leaving for work for hours,. etc. the cats don't need it to be 75 degrees, and I don't want to pay for it) ($$$)
- Clean up when you get up (take trash to can, dishes to sink,. etc.) (that way no one's stuck with a bunch of shit to deal with at the end of the week)
- Immediately clean any spills, etc. that you cause.
- If *you* aren't willing to clean up after [drunk][,and-so-on] guests, do try to remind them where the trash can is, where to find something to clean that spill with,. etc.
-Wash dishes immediately after use to avoid pileup. (personal rule,. not something I think everyone should have to do, but something I did for quite a while and intend to do again so that there's never a moment of being stuck doing the dishes, because I haven't contributed any)
- Have money for bills ready & paid to appropriate bill-holder by due dates
-Pay any late fees on whatever bill you hold (it's not anyone else's fault that it's late)
-Do not ever allow anything of shared payment to be negatively affected- service interruptions, disconnections, etc. -(I expect the service for which I'm required to pay a portion)
-Respect the need for quiet (trailer, thin walls,.) when someone is in bed due to work schedule or illness. (Have tv at lowest listenable volume, etc.)
-Respect while in your care, and then replace -within a timely manner- things borrowed from others (shouldn't have to ask for or search for things so nicely lent in the first place, [-I'm touchy about this, specifically with clothes,. My mother would NEVER let something be returned unwashed..] of course, example being that of the clothes which I'd just mentioned,. if you're borrowing it, you should be willing to wash it ((as directed for proper care on the garment tag!)))

Oh yea, and things about being in someone else's vehicle (as I'm often playing shuttle to various):
-Do not leave your trash/things in the van.
-Close windows & restore anything else you changed before you leave the vehicle.

General manners for shared or notyours space:
-Leave things as they were.

21st birthday this weekend [24 Oct 2006|01:36pm]
I posted a big entry before, but thought I'd ask again now at a more relevant time-
I'm celebrating my 21st birthday in Pittsburgh this weekend..(filling time from Friday through Saturday night) Bar suggestions, cheap daytime activities, any special events going on, any particularly cool breaks I can get/places to milk the birthday thing for free stuff/discounts/etc. (like how they give you free dessert at some restaurants). etc.. anything else?
Thanks in advance, again.
